When I want something, I do stupid things
Brand new Computer Music magazine lies down on the shelf in Eason in Ballincollig Shopping Centre. Except it was wet and dried out again, all 4 of them. That shouldn't be there, how could anybody buy it?
My attention catches not the almost unreadable paper but a DVD attached. There is cool software on it sometimes and just for the price of the magazine. This time it is beautiful EZdrummer Lite edition. I love this virtual instrument plug-in and was able to try the full version which impressed me more than competition’s Addictive Drums. So I definitely have to own one!
But surely I wouldn’t buy €9 unreadable mag just for the DVD. I’ve asked Eason’s staff if I can get any discount if I bought that mess just due to DVD. Guess what? No. They would throw all those mags to the bin. Alright, I’m leaving.
It’s Sunday 5:38pm already and during second attempt to start up my Supercar I’m thinking whether it’s possible to make it on time to Eason in Cork’s Mahon Point. Though I have Supercar, I doubt it… By the time I am on roundabout I remembered my last attempt to get Computer Music mag due to the plug-in on DVD. In Ballincollig the last piece of this magazine was torn a bit. So I went to Mahon but they didn’t have it. Returned back to Ballincollig just to find out it was sold out already. Don’t want to repeat the same mistake, right?
Supercar continues full turn around a roundabout to return to the same parking spot underneath the shopping centre. Now I’m picking up the best preserved copy of Computer Music, a Net magazine, couple of envelopes and paying for everything. In full prices. Although I’ve got a strange feeling of not being that happy from my purchase, I’m trying to comfort myself with thought of my own EZdrummer.
Coming home, checking the DVD (no real need to check the mag), installation going fine so far. Thanks God at least something! After loading the drums in Sonar I started playing. But not for long as I’ve found out that Lite edition of EZdrummer is light too much, without 2 toms (which I could live without) and with no crash cymbal. Noooo! That means it’s actually useless to me…
Conclusion: Only good thing about all this is that I can upgrade to full version of EZdrummer for just 60% of its price now……
